fyeahuniverse: Nemesis.  Nemesis is a hypothetical red dwarf or brown dwarf star said to be orbiting our sun past the Oort Cloud. Originally proposed in 1984, it was offered as an answer to the periodic mass extinctions on Earth, which occur about every 26 million years. Though the existence of Nemesis would certainly answer many questions and help astronomers sleep at night, and despite the advancement of more than capable technology, evidence of a brown dwarf, or any other star in our solar system has not been found. (Pictured above is a red dwarf star)
